Vintage P&B Ponder & Best Mini Tripod MODEL 99 Photography VIVITAR Pocket Tripod
Here is your chance to own this vintage P & B Ponder & Best Mini Tripod (Model 99, Made in Japan), also known as the ”Pocket Tripod”. Unextended the tri-pod stands approximately 10” tall. Fully extended it stands approximately 50” tall. Metal construction.
Originally founded as Ponder & Best, Inc., the company was established in Santa Monica, California in 1938 as a distributor of photographic products by the German immigrants Max Ponder and John C. Best. Ponder and Best fled to the United States from Germany after Hitler rose to power. The pair started out selling photographic equipment from a 1936 Oldsmobile. Best wrote invoices from the back seat while Ponder acted as the salesman and retrieved merchandise from the trunk.
Initially, Ponder & Best pursued relationships with major camera equipment manufacturers but in 1964, decided to come up with their own brand and rebadge the equipment they sold. They chose Vivitar as their brand name.
The tripod is in
very good condition
, with some wear including some paint chipping to the legs, but nothing that distracts or impedes its usefulness. Will make a wonderful addition to any collection vintage cameras or photography equipment. Will also ship internationally, though will have determine the cost of shipping depending on where it is being shipped.
Please be sure to see all of the items I have listed for sale on listed for sale on eBay. Will combine multiple items to reduce the cost of shipping for the buyer.
COMES FROM A NON-SMOKING HOME.
Please note that I pride myself on the care taken to package and ship items I sell on eBay. A quick read of my Feedback will bare this out. When possible I also try to recycle shipping materials to not only be more sustainable, but also to keep shipping costs as low. Be assured I never compromise the quality of materials used in shipping just to save money. As an active buyer on eBay I know what it is like to receive something that has been damaged in shipping and I never want that to happen with items I sell.
Thanks in advance for bidding!
